Hotplug missing on this system. Cannot Install

I download and compiled libusb for libmtp (for my Zen), I compiled both libusb and libmtp successfully (I think), I ran ./hotplug.sh for hotplug support, first it gave me a syntax error which I fixed. I re-ran hotplug.sh, answered yes to all the questions then I got this error:

Hotplug missing on this system. Cannot install.
