I really want to use Ubuntu server for my new quad core VMware box but I am having stability problems I think due to the drivers for my QUANTUM DLT7000 tape drive. It loads and works fine for a day or two and then pukes with a kernel panic referencing the megaraid device. The tape drive runs on a DELL (LSI) Perc3 SCSI controller, and it is the only device on the controller. Below is my dmesg and as you can see it is complaining about several things including the osst and st drivers for the tape drive. I have googled that and I have not found a solution. Any ideas?
