I have been using Linux for a short time and was pleased that there were 2 Christian versions, but it seems that Ichthux is defunct now and that Ubuntu CE has been held up. I have tried an older version of Ubuntu CE and was generally pleased, but to be honest, I really do not care much for Gnome. Is there any Christian geared Linux distributions out there with KDE? Is there any chance of a Kubuntu CE or a revival of Ichthux?

I see that the Ichthux website has been relaunched; but the OS is still in RC 6.10, as far as I can tell.

I recently tried KDE and fell in love with it and am weening myself off of my gnome installation, but wondered the same thing. After lack of finding anything via google, I am researching how to do it myself with a Kubuntu Christian Edition project or something to that effect, if possible.

To be honest you'd probably find it easier just to go with a mainstream (non-christian) distro, like plain Ubuntu, and then install all your favourite Christain programs, like bible study aids etc. , on top. You won't really lose out, it will just take a little longer to install programs.

Ichtux is available as a metapackage for Ubuntu. Probably the easiest way to install it, is to open Synaptic, and search for "Ichthux".

I would go that route but a lot of my friends are asking me to help them get out of the pirate scene by using free software and they too want the same customizations that I have done on my own box, which repeatedly doing over and over again would get old and bland. Thought it might be just as easy to make one disk and pass it along.
Or at least make available a convert me script like UCE used to.

I have downloaded this, not sure what all it did other than adding Bible Time and a desktop image (and loading an unnecessary webserver). Maybe I'm not just that observant..
