New to Ubuntu ..

I have been installing the os for a few hours now and it is clicking away on 31 % completion ...(select and install software) Shall I try to partition again and start over ? I really want this to work but it has been a long road so far ...

Are you using the live CD or the Alternate CD?

i am using the alternate install for limited memory ... can't put my finger in the name atm .

What are your system specs?

I can tell you it is no where near what you are pushing from your Sig . 700mhz HP not much memory 30 gig or so hard drive.... Have xp oem intalled on other partition but no license looking for a new hobby / alternative ...tired of Windows tbh

I'm pretty sure if your computer has 256MB or above in RAM it can install using the alternate CD, unless there is a problem with your HD.

SO that sounds like a Yes to trying the reinstall ... I will power down ...

Try to reinstall and if it stops at 31% again, make a new disc and check the md5.
