It was suggested that I turn NX-bit off because having it on would cause problems for a specific program in wine. How do I do this? Is there a way to simply disable NX-bit for a specific program? Let me know what you think, thanks.

You can't disable it for a given program. It must be enabled/disabled at the BIOS level.

I don't know if Ubuntu can be configured to use it or not at boot time. I'm assuming if it's enabled, Ubuntu will use it.
