I'm just running ubuntu for the first time, and when it's doing that loading thing, it says
"No root file system is defined.
Please correct this from the partitioning menu."
Whenever I click "OK", it just comes again.
One problem is, I don't know what this means, and another problem is that there is no menu, just a loading window, the window with that message, and a background of some bird with a long beak.
If anyone can tell me how I can fix this, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I'm guessing you are using the "Manual" option on the installer from the LiveCD, as that is the only place I have ever seen that error message.
If you are, then select the partition, select "Edit Partition" and then, in the text box (there will only be one), type "/" (root).

I can't, the only things on the screen are the loading bar and that message. Unless I'm being stupid and there is something obvious I'm missing, could you please post some really simple instructions?
I'll try and post a picture of what it looks like.
