i just installeed open-suse from a dvd in my system.
i havent tried my hands much but i would like you people to specify some differences between ubuntu and suse, which makes migration easy.
seriously speaking, i cant understand yast at all..its a lot tough than apt.

If you have a preference for green, then that will definitely facilitate the switch.

I've completely switched to opensuse with version 11. Is there something specific you want to know about Yast? Opensuse is very nice once you learn how to use it. You can start here: http://en.opensuse.org/YaST/Modules For general info on something opensuse related, just search for it from the wiki: http://en.opensuse.org/Welcome_to_openSUSE.org You can use the "one click install" until you get used to Yast package manager: http://software.opensuse.org/search http://packages.opensuse-community.org/ Yast will automatically add the repo the package is in when you use the one click install. A friendly tip, disable automatic repo refresh for all repos in Yast>Software>Software Repositories. You won't have to wait for them to refresh everytime you open the package manager. You can also use zypper which is the equivelant to apt: http://en.opensuse.org/Zypper/Usage

To make it easier you need an open mind, patience, and an ability to learn new things!

OpenSUSE is not Ubuntu, or indeed the other way around.

Different distros do some things differently, you need to accept that and just get on with learning.

If you don't like it, then try another distro, there are plenty to choose from :).

As I've said before, openSuse needs better documentation. I just looked over the links posted above and still cannot get a straight answer to my network printing woes. Ubuntu makes this so easy. Even using the CUPS configuration in Sabayon is easier (doing the same thing in openSuse did not work).

Ubuntu's documentation is written for Joe Average, saves us lots of time. The writers of openSuse's help files appear to be quite elitest, IMHO. That's too bad, and will keep openSuse from overtaking Ubuntu.

I think so too. It's fairly difficult finding straight answers, unlike Ubuntu. The information is not in one place either. You have to search all over the net for it.
