There is this software, pvsyst (http://www.pvsyst.com/), which is to design photovoltaics systems. You can see some screenshots here (http://www.eere.energy.gov/buildings/tools_directory/screenshots.cfm/ID=424/pagename_submenu=/pagename_menu=/pagename=alpha_list)
I am wondering if there is any open source software that will do the same or similar? a version in Windows would be interesting too.

You will have better luck in the Education & Science section, http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=169
You could always just "Report" button on your own post and ask a mod to move it there.
