View Full Version : [ubuntu] [SOLVED] Music Players won't play music

August 10th, 2008, 09:15 PM
I am new to Ubuntu, and any Linux distro, but I have an old HP desktop computer that i installed Ubuntu Hardy Heron on a few days ago.

I installed all of the codecs i could find, and i installed a few music players, such as Banshee, Amarok, VLC, and Songbird, but none of them will play my music.

All of my music is in MP3 format, but when i click on the song to play, it will select the song, but will not start playing, even though it gives me an option to pause the song.

If anyone can help me, please do so.
So far this is the only problem i have had with Ubuntu, everything else is working just fine.

Hah I just solved an issue just like this:
Go up to system > preferences > sound.
If all are set on autodetect try changing them to ALSA.
That should work.

Good, just be careful when playing multiple audio though.
There are still bugs with that sort of thing, and pulse audio is still new.
