I have Xubuntu 8.04 installed and I have to do data recovery/backup on a regular basis. I'm having trouble ejecting USB & firewire data devices. I sometime get a message that an error occured and the device could not be removed and Thunar open again with the device as though it had been remounted. I have also had a message report that said "Data needs to be written to this device, do on unplug or power off device" and the whole system locked, no mouse, no access to any TTY2-6. I had just reformatted a drive when this happned so I wasn't concerned about an reset, but I'm not sure how to avoid this in the furture. Any advice?
