Hi

How do I - using GIMP - turn a simple black and white photo of a feather into a feather like the one below?

(ignore the text - I took the example from a photoshop HOWTO...)

thanks

Go here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAsr0DnF7lY) to watch a series on producing/working with vector graphics in the GIMP.

I seriously agree with this, Inkscape is awesome with vector.

but that doesn't answer the OP's question or problem, how do you convert an image into vector using inkscape as oppose to gimp? I am also interested if its possible in inkscape. i've been using vectormagic btw.

Actually it can do colored traces as well, if I remember right (it's been a while since I've used the trace function, but I'm pretty sure it supports colors.)

That tutorial is from 2005 and Inkscape has developed a lot since then.. That just happened to be the first tutorial about btmap tracing in Inkscape that I managed to find with Google..
