I suppose so...
I also change the title slightly, so people know the thread isn't just about Ubuntu Releases :)

Best:
- Fedora
Worst:
- PSLinuxOS
- SuSE (it probably sounds worse to me because I hate that distro with a passion)
- Ubuntu (for such an awesome distro it needs a better name)

PCLinuxOS is the worst one I've heard. It sounds awkward and arrogant, both at the same time.

Best : ArchLinux
Complete opposite for me.
How the hell can you think ArchLinux is the best name for a distro? IMO, anything with "Linux" in the name is horrible. PCLinuxOS, Arch Linux, Linux-XP..
The best names are the actual original ones, like Pardus, Linspire, Fedora..

I'm not keen on anything beginning with an 'X' - e.g. Xubuntu, Xandros. It sounds like a Citroen reject, and many people don't know that the X is pronounced 'Z'.

Worst: In terms of logic, I think gOS, if it really means Good OS, they really stuffed up that one making it seems like its Google OS.
Best: Hmmm... umm... Mandriva/Mandrake, that emphasis on 'Man' sounds horrible. Wait did I mean also the worst?

Best: Fedora
Worst: Everything else
I never have figured out why all Linux distros have such geeky names. Fedora is a cool name and I don't even use the distro.

On the other hand, that kind of hat looks hilarious. Especially if it's bright red.
I think the best names aren't words in English, or at least they're not common words in English.

Gentoo for best!
Not my cup of tea as a distro, but loved the name ^^

Slackware has always been one of my favourite names. As for bad, I think Source Mage sounds really goofy.

It's an acronym.

Best Names: Redhat and Fedora. I can't believe that I didn't know that a Fedora is a freakin' type of hat .... :(
Worst Name: Ubuntu. It's a real PITA trying to explain to people how to pronounce it and then watch their face scrunch up while working through the sounds. I do like what the name stands for, just not the actual word it self.
Worst Distro Version Name Release of Ubuntu: Feisty Fawn. w-t-h ? I know that they are all for going A-Z picking an animal... but feisty fawn ? Feisty Ferrit would have been better. Ferrits are at least vicious :)
One of the funniest things I've seen were guys on Digg mocking the version naming (Fiesty Fapper, etc)

Mandriva.... Sounds like a bad cross-dressing night club.
K/Ubuntu just sounds goofy.
Linpus sounds like a bad sexual disease.
Linspire/Freespire name is dumb.
Fedora sounds ok.
Debian sounds ok.
Mepis is freakin retarted sounding.
Gentoo is ok.
Slackware is so-so.
PCLinuxOS is not to bad.
Xandros is the best sounding one i like.

Linspire is also a terrible name. Also, the name of any distro with "free" tacked onto the beginning sounds awful. And don't get me started on SimplyMEPIS.

Best: Gentoo, Sabayon and Debian.
Worst: PCLinuxOS and LinuxXP. Also Vixta which isn't on Distrowatch but has to be said. The worst distro name of all time though is undoubtedly Lindows (I know this is now Linspire which is only marginally better but when I heard it used to be called Lindows I literally cringed).

Yeah, it's a kind of hat. The kind of hat in the RedHat logo, too.

I can't believe people actually like Gentoo. Sounds stupid, but that might just be the stretched oo sound. PCLinuxOS is such a bad name that I actually decided to go to Ubuntu during my pre-Linux stage just so my computer wouldn't have such a horrible title on bootup. It needs to be changed.

I can't speak for the quality of the distro itself as I've not tried it, but the name Slitaz is just horrible. I can't help but say it in a Newcastle (UK) accent when I see it, and that makes it sound even worse!
Slitaz....eeuurch!

I can't honestly think of a distro name that I thought was great.
But I've avoided Puppy Linux because of it's name alone.
They might as well have called it My Little Pony Linux.
I guess I'm vain, but I just can't imagine being taken seriously while recommending it to someone.

I'd say Debian is best and Frugalware is worst.
I've never liked the name Ubuntu but can't say that I care much for Red Hat, Fedora, or any of the other distribution names either. I'd probably come up with an acronym that is easy to pronounce and reflects the goals or nature of Ubuntu operating system.

Agreed on those. Frugalware sounds so goofy I don't want to try it. Debian sounds great, but I like the name Slackware more. I really like that name, though I'm not entirely sure why.

Debian, Fedora, Mandriva, Linspire are good names in my opinion.
Ubuntu, SuSE, are quite unattractive names.
Lindows is the worst name which existed for a Linux Distribution.

I like the name Puppy Linux because I love dogs. :)
And Puppy is a good distro IMO.

Puppy is a good distro, except with my wireless card.
Good names:
Ubuntu (because of the whole meaning and goal of the distro)
Gentoo (It's a type of penguin! Get it?!)
Fedora
DSL
Yggdrasil (It's fun to try to say/spell)
Bad names:
Arch (My one and only distro, but there are some instances where "arch" refers to your computers architecture, and that confused me when I was using Arch for the first time)
Any other *buntu
Any Windows ripoff name
PCLinuxOS
Mepis (Just sounds silly to me)

PCLinuxOS is the worst for so many reasons, not least of which that I tend to call it "puh-KLIN-uck-SAUCE" because saying "PEE-see-LIN-ux-oh-ESS" is too damn long.
