Today I read several several articles about a fatal flaw concerning DNS. I'm not a technical person, and am new to Ubuntu Linux (fresh from long abuse at the hands of various versions of M$ Winblowz), but from what I've read, apparently most of the commercial OS's and businesses have gotten together and provided some sort of patch. Is there one available for Ubuntu Linux? If so, where can I find it?

Here is a link to one of the articles on the new security issue:

Thanks for any help you can provide!

You really don't need to worry too much about malware on Ubuntu or any other flavour of Linux. That's not to say that you should click on a suspect link or install anything you are unsure of, but almost all viruses and trojans are aimed at Windows, and cannot infect a Linux machine.

That may change if Linux becomes more popular, but Linux is inherently less susceptible to malware because of its structure and the absence of a registry. That's why you have to enter a password to do administrative tasks.

I would also recommend OpenDNS instead of whatever your ISP provides - it's usually very easy to change this in your modem setup (but make a note of the originals in case you want to change back!).

EDIT/

The OpenDNS Domain Name servers are...

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

Anyone can use them instead of the ones supplied by your ISP, and they are generally more reliable and secure.
