Well, technically I'm already logged in but my desktop is "locked" with the
"switch user" feature. If I leave it on the login screen long enough for the computer to go to sleep and then wake it up, it simply bypasses the login screen and goes straight to my desktop. I don't recall ever having this problem before until I did a fresh install a couple days ago. Any ideas on how to correct this?

This has happened to me, once, and only once; but I couldn't really use the "desktop"; turned out that it was still locked, and the password dialog was not being shown. If you wave your mouse near about at the center of the screen, it will change into a text cursor ("I"), click there, and type your password to unlock your desktop. You may have to try a couple of times.

Subsequently all was normal for me. No idea where the glitch came from and where it disappeared.

My problem/solution may not be your problem/solution.

Hi prshah. This definitely isn't a graphical glitch. I have full access upon "login" to my desktop. Thank god Ubuntu doesn't allow us to login as root.

This problem is still occuring if somebody wants to help me tackle it.

I'm experiencing something similar and I don't like it one bit. When I switch user and the other user logs out, it bypasses login screen and goes straight to my fully functional desktop. Every time. I witnessed this happening when I had switched from a session having thunar opened with sudo! Now, unless it's reported already, it's a rather serious bug :???:.
