Highly annoyed with default firewall and ports!

Okay I have opened port 147 but I am still not showing that this port is open. I am using DGL-4100. I'm very annoyed and frustrated. I'm about ready to go back to windows and I really don't want to just to open a port.

try using firestarter its an easy to configure firewall

Firestarter doesn't work either.

by default no ports are closed... so what did you do?

P.S.: Firestarter is an outdated piece of software.

iptables - it comes as standard with Ubuntu. It can be a bit of a pain to set up, which is why there are programs such as firestarter which act as a front-end to it.
