View Full Version : [ubuntu] Wireless connection drops

This is a minor annoyance, but I wonder if it can be eliminated. If I walk away from my computer for 15 minutes or so, the association between my wireless adapter and the router is lost. I have to run iwconfig to re establish the connection.

Is there something I need to do in order to eliminate this tendency for the association to be lost?

It happens just about any time my system sits "idle" while connected wirelessly for any extended length of time (10 - 15 minutes).

If I write a long post that does not require me to navigate pages on the net, by the time I'm ready to click to send the post, the connection is lost and has to be reset using iwconfig.

The good news is that I have typed that command "sudo iwconfig wlan0 ESSID myroutername" so many times, that my fingers can do it while I sleep.

Still, it would be nice not to have to do this all the time.

Suggestions appreciated.
