Hey all, I'm a n00b so I'll need a bit of hand-holding to get through this one.

I'm running ubuntu 8.04 with XFCE and I like it very much. My initial installation put the kernel on my computer and my wireless internet didn't work. I downloaded the MadWifi drivers and then everything seemed to work fine. I ran the update took and it updated the kernel to (and later to In these kernels, my wireless flat out refuses to work. the networking tool doesn't recognize that I have a wireless device at all. I've tried reinstalling Madwifi, but nothing seems to fix it. I need help!

I should also note that the problem exists in both XFCE and Gnome environments.

It's an Atheros chip, which my research has led me to believe is somewhat difficult for linux for some reason. How can I fix this?
