I just got Verizon DSL installed at a family member's house. I, myself have been using Comcast cable for a long time. I have set up many services, but I am stumped on this one.

After several attempts to get the Verizon modem to run through the Linksys 54G router, it finally got an internet connection, but I'm not sure why.

I connected the modem directly to the computer, got a IC, then released it, connected it to the router, then renewed it. Connected the router to the computer, got a IP, then released it. After several attempts at connecting, reconnecting, releasing, and renewing, I finally got an IC from the router.

The problem is, the router doesn't show a public IP, just local in the status section and this causes me not to be able to connect via vnc. Connecting locally isn't a problem.
