I understand that this section is in flux so this may be explained soon.

It seems now that with the name "off-topic" people are just using it as another community chat, and there's a lot of duplication of purpose. It's not really seen as a "hot button topic" section it seems.

Is this intentional, or is it a side effect, or what?

Some things, like "Do you read Slashdot" sound like they'd do well in the Community Chat.

Or maybe people see a section marked "unmoderated but no porn, illegality or outright flames" and they are simply drawn to this freedom. It has less to do with wanting to flame each other and more to do with simply being able to communicate comfortably free of censorship...

Yeah both good points.. Off-topic was just a test yesterday I forgot to change back.. Please see this thread and give some suggestions for a new name.. Details on the thread.
