Hi Everyone,
I am just dropping in. I just received a install cd from a co-worker. I have never used linux before. Any suggestions for a total NooB?

Yup
1. Check out this site www.ubuntuguide.org
2. If you are going to dual boot, make sure you backup any data that you don't want to lose forever.
3. Read, read, read

And...while we are at it, 'new to linux' is much better than 'linux n00b' ;)

Well, at least the opportunity to insert the everpresent "noob" moniker wasn't wasted.

My advice to you is try not to get too frustrated, if you do then take a breather. Linux is a gradual change but if you stick with it you will soon be preaching about the GPL and open source to all who use Microsoft. That brings me to my next tip, read the GPL. It is my feeling everyone should read it and understand it. My final tip is to keep a cheat sheet for Linux commands handy. Here is 1 with some basic commands but I'd google 1 with some more in depth stuff down the road a lil.

So far so good. I just installed ubuntu with out pain. :-D
Now learning the Gnome desktop and looking for good Linux books. I have already ordered Linux in a Nutshell.
Any other suggestions?
Oh yeah, and I haven't tried booting into XP yet. (Keeping my fingers crossed)
