Hey there! I have a bunch of SNES roms on my computer, and I was wondering which controller would be a good choice to play them with? Of course, it needs to be friendly with Linux, and USB would be preferable.

It doesn't need a ton of buttons, or analog sticks, just enough to run a SNES emulator.

Any suggestions? :]

How about this one?:

It's a pretty cheap controller, but it should be satisfactory enough. Plus Logitech controllers generally work well under Linux.

I just found an old Xbox Controller (the smaller model of course), a usb cord and wired the two together. Really easy task, the wires match by color so its not a difficult task. No drivers were needed, I just plugged it in and played. Then again I only find it terrific because it allows me to play my n64 games as well.

I made one of the adapter things for my xbox controller as well, but I lost it, and when I tried to make one again, it fried my controller. :[ I didn't know that it would work under linux. Hmm.

Really I like any of the logitechs:

In particular, I like the Dual Action Gamepad for NES/SNES/PSX, and on windows I like the Chillstream controller for N64 Games. Not sure if it works on linux yet, I wasn't able to just plug and play with it a couple months ago.

I like my controller setup. For my desktop i have this:

for my laptop I use my Wiimotes or my Logitech Rumblepad 2.

The rumblepad2 is very simple to use and should probably suit your needs if you don't want to make an SNES adaptor

I use an Xbox 360 wired controller. Plug in and go. No drivers needed or anything. Works great in my opinion.
