Getting the "play' button to work on my laptop

Hi Everyone,

I have Ubuntu 8.04 running on my Dell XPS 1530. The 1530 has a series of buttons that are for controlling music/video playback (stop, pause, play, ff, rew etc). How do i enable these in Ubuntu? it also has buttons for muting and controlling the volume but these seem to work fine.
