Does anybody know where I can discover the settings used by my webcam in skype, cheese or Ekiga? These are the only webcam software that work for me with my webcam, and they all auto detected my set-up.

My webcam is a Genius Slim 1322AF.

I installed a webcam this morning in Ubuntu 8.04 and at first I thought it was not working until I received a telephone call through Skype, and it turned itself on! Great so far, as I really need it only for Skype.

Further testing shows it also works with Ekiga and cheese, but all these applications auto detect settings so I still can't configure it to work with MPlayer / MEncoder, VLC or motion which require that I enter the settings manually.

I tried following the info on this page

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Webcam

But without success.

At least it is working. Any ideas where to find the correct settings for other applications?

Thanks

Garvan

Does your webcam work in sites to live streamming?
like blogtv.com , ustream and justin.tv...?
I have the same genius slim 1322 af and when it begins to broadcast the image just stop...
My webcam works on cheese... but cheese doesn't record audio with the video...

Can you try to live stream and tell us if it worked?

I am using ubuntu amd64
