NIS compatibility

I would like to know if any prob wud arise if the NIS server runs RHEL 4 and clients run Ubuntu 8.04. We are unable to configure NIS on our PCs running Ubuntu 8.04 while the server runs RHEL 4. Are there any compatibility issues? Its important..Pls reply

No, there shouldn't be. NIS is NIS on any distro. Something else is going on there.
