My problem is that I currently have a file transfer speed of about 100kb/s.

I have two clients (one Ubuntu with Hardy, and one Vista Ultimate) they are connected with a router. All have 10/100/1000 cards.

So I have three devices (Ubuntu, Vista and Router) which could have the problem/s. This post obviously is trying to focus on the Ubuntu part.

What tests can I make, how can I see that it is not my Ubuntu settings / SMB settings?

Thanks

So I have made a few changes with ethtool and made sure that it is full duplex / 1000.

From the Ubunutu client I get 10mb/s and to it I get about 25MB/s

As there are three devices involved here I will ask my question again.

How can I see what the Ubunutu client is willing to give and receive (is this ethtool)

AND how can I measure what the ubunutu client actually gave or received. With this information I know whether I need to focus on ubunutu or on the other parts in the link.
