I was looking through the Art team concepts, and I found a new entry that really struck me as elegant.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/Incoming/Intrepid/Intrepid_Ibex_GTK_proposal

I like it mainly because it is so simple. Paired with a great icon theme, good fonts, and a beautiful wallpaper, this would make a great Ibex theme!

Another one that I really like is:

The problem with it is that I'm not sure how much time it would take to properly implement such a design. It definitely looks cool, but I worry that it won't make it into Ibex. Maybe the following version, but who knows?

Kimmik's theme is a favorite of mine as well.

I think the deep inset bevels used in his buttons should be incorporated by clearlooks. It would be awesome to have a clearlooks option like button-depth or button-bevel-amount.

The first one is nice.

But that second one makes me want to vomit. It looks so childish and stupid. I want my desktop to look clean and sleek, not clumsy and cartoony.

The second one would be nice for a child.

Looks like something a Windows user would whip up in MS Paint :lolflag:

Actually the Ibex GTK Proposal didn't really strike me as being gorgeous at all. It seems like a decent evolution of the Hardy theme, but thats it.

Gimmie Human looks like it's trying too hard to look good, therefore it looks too cheap and shiny. That said, the second theme does have some cool parts. The dock at the bottom does look like it has promise. The opaque black border on the dock looks very elegant, and the scrolling feature is neat. The dock icons use up too much size though.

I like the second one a bit, just because I love transparency. But I do agree, it looks kind of cartoony. It's a little much.

The first one = beauty in simplicity. (And not trying too hard and looking ridiculous in the process.) Something clean and simple like this may stop people making fun of the default theme (nothing to make fun of). And it's still intuitive enough for people switching from other systems.

+1 for me too.
