Hey, just getting used to Ubuntu. I'd like to run a 20 GB full installs of Solaris 10 and 30 GB Windows XP using VMware Server.
(My HD is partitioned as 4GB swap, 20GB /, and 470 GB /home)
/var/lib/vmware/virtual machines is currently the location of my VM. I don't have much space left in my root directory. Is it possible to run VMs from my /home directory? How do I change the folder for Virtual Machines?
Sorry for such a noobish question

When you install vmware server you get a prompt that asks you where to store the VMs... I use my /home/frank directory. Works fine for years.

I use a separate partition to store all of my Virtual Machines, music, videos and such. In case I have to reinstall Ubuntu I won't loose my VM's.

I keep full backups of my VMs, both off-line and near-line, because it takes so long to re-create them, especially the WinXP ones. <sigh>

I feel your pain. I'm still resurrecting my XP Pro. :)
