i know it's not necessary to have any anitvirus but im dual booting with vista at the moment and id like to at least have a scanner with a graphical interface installed. ive heard there is a free version of bitdefender for linux out there but i can't seem to find a deb install for it ? so you know im running x64.

Your windows virii will not have an effect in a linux environment, so I wouldn't worry at the Ubuntu end. If your worried about passing them to windows increase security that end on any shared files.
