if this is not the right thread then please move it to the right one :)

my friend gave me this oold OEM pc and i am trying to install ubuntu on it(i am great with linux and the problem is not the install)

It is running
ASUS mobo(333MHZ)
512mb of ram
not sure what processor
and the unfamiliar bios AWARDBIOS

heres the problem
it is running an old onboard graphics and i have put a newer graphics card(AGP) in there that supports my monitor... i am not familiar with the BIOS they used and have no idea how to disable the onboard and enable the card...
so everytime i boot up to install Ubuntu on it,i just get a blank screen... please,if anyone is familiar with old OEM pc's(it used to run XP,so its not THAT old)any help would be awsome,if you need more information, just ask,i will try to get it.

thank you

if taking the agp out again and connecting the vdu to the computer works then theagp gpu may be faulty. the only other thing i can think of is to make sure you connect the monitor lead to the newly insterted card and not the onboard adapter.

the onboard video doesnt support the monitor,so i have to use the graphics card, i think the problem is that i just dont know how to disable the onboard and enable the AGP in the AWARDBIOS i have no clue how to use this systems bios, its kinda funk
