Hi,
I have been using ubuntu for more than a year without windows. But recently I moved to Germany and i started needing messengers to chat with my friends in india. So instead of re-partitioning my HDD, i installed virtual box and installed windows xp. Now my problem is that the webcam (HP inbuilt one from Suyan) is not working in xp. It is detected in ubuntu and runs fine with ekiga, skype and cheese. Just that it does not work with virtualbox (xp). Also my usb ports are not recognized.

Anyone has any idea about this? Please help me out.
thank you (in advance).

USB support needs to be turned on in the virtualbox config file.

There's threads in this forum on how to do it. I am sure then you will get the webcam working.

Thanks for that information. But now even though the virtualbox detects the webcam, Xp is not able to detect it. Yahoo and msn say no webcam found. Should i start the webcam in the host b4 using virtual box??

Also only my fingerprint sensor is enabled, both the webcam and my mouse are greyed out. But mouse works not the webcam :(

Can some one help please

Please do not bump your post so often, I have moved your thread to virtualization. Hope this helps. :)

Hey bro, what changes have you made to get usb working? Did you edit the /etc/init.d/mountdevsubfs.sh file?

There is a good how to on it on the following link. I hope this helps you out some.
