I will certainly try this, Because the current Cedega makes games on my ATI card run like syrup.

If it runs Guild Wars, I'm definitely getting a subscription. :p

Cedega 5.0 can be downloaded from the Transgaming website now :)

I had to remove all old cedega related packages from my system before the new one would install. It seems like everything is integrated into the Point2Play interface now.

Right now i'm installing FarCry. I'm quite happy to see that transgaming have fixed the problem with the official FarCry installer on the DVD version of the game. So far so good :)

If it runs Guild Wars, I'm definitely getting a subscription.
Guild Wars is amongst the official supported games so i think it'll run fine :)

I'm reluctant to install version 5. I don't like the fact it's integrated with Point2Play now. I've had better luck with Cedega when I use it alone from the command line. I don't want misc launchers in multiple menus etc, etc, etc.

So...PLEASE report here how version 5 works!!!

Thanks,
kudu

Guildwars runs beautifully under Cedega, and likely the primary reason I stopped ever having a Windows machine for anything on my arch at all.

I believe that it only defaults to p2p if you run it with no options, otherwise it acts just like the command line version.

Are those who aren't subscribers to Transgaming able to get Cedega 5.0, or do we have to pay the fee? If we can get it for free, please let me know how. I have no problem supporting the people behind the project, but I want to make sure it works before I do so. I never was quite able to get the other version (4.4?) working correctly. I'm on a college student's budget, I'm sure at least a few of you know what that's like. Thanks.

To answer your question directly, it seems the server was /.'ed earlier today.

What does that mean, don't have to have the GUI stuff at all ? I'm happier just creating a specific launcher for a particular game or else running from the terminal. I don't want any GUI!

p2p and cedega are now one program as opposed to seperate as they were before.
To run with the GUI just run 'cedega'. To run as a commandline run 'cedega' plus whatever commandline switches you usually use.

Tried it...removed it!! Re-installed 4.4.3-1, got it just the way I like it. Can't stand P2P, sorry. 4.4.3-1 works for me and what I want it for, which is HTTR. So I guess it will have to do.

Luck to the rest of you.

It didn't run in 4.4.3 even though it's listed, not even with the hotfix, so I'm not so sure.

Most likely, you're not using an ATI card. ;)

P2P isn't integrated into Cedega, they've just changed the name of P2P to Cedega, then you download Cedega afterwards through P2P.

The thought of having to use P2P revolts me, so I'll probably just go back to 4.4.3 if they don't respond to the huge amount of complaints they've had about the command-line issue soon. Their support is terrible though, so I wouldn't be surprised if they just don't bother.

As far as I know it's possible to use Cedega 5.0 without running P2P, but you'd have to look in the manual to know how, because I don't.

Personally P2P is great just because it's one less thing I need to right a script for. Plus I play City of Villains and it's nice to be able to easily stop the wineserver with the big Stop button when my game locks.

Yeah, though it took a while before most people found out how, plus there are still certain things like running a game in opengl mode which seems to be having some troubles.

Anyway, I'll eat my words about them not responding to the complaints, because they have and are working on having it possible to use the old commands again. That's one less bad thing about the new release in my opinion.

Now if only they'd make P2P and Cedega seperate again, so I neither have to install something I don't use and don't need an active account to reinstall Cedega if I ever have to again.

Amen to that. I can't stand P2P. I want cedega seperate, period. But hey, that's me. I also want wargame support...HPS Simulations, Steel Panthers et al, etc. etc. etc. Without support for that sort, I'll probably stop my subscription soon.

The interface completely sucks, but I'm going to keep Cedega 5 around because it runs UT (classic) a lot better than the previous version. Guess I'll just have to get used to running it through the p2p interface...
(running 'cedega' from the command line invokes the p2p GUI)
