All right, so I recently bought a Compaq C700 laptop, and installed Ubuntu 8.04 on it out of box. Unfortunately, not only is its wireless card not functional (a common problem from what I understand) not even its wired connection works. Interestingly, my ASUS F3 (8.04 as well) has absolutely no problems connecting. As a side note, I have an Aetheros 802.11 wireless LAN, though I am not sure what sort of Ethernet adapter it is using.
