I have a porto usb bluetooth adapter that I've been trying to get to work in Ubuntu Hardy. The model number is BA-500 and the only information I can find in Google is this (http://www.lmc.com.au/products/Networking_-_Wireless/Porto/554685/Porto_Micro_Bluetooth_USB_Adapter_%5BBA-500%5D)

This is my lsusb output:

Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 046d:c51b Logitech, Inc.
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

and my hciconfig output:

hci0: Type: USB
BD Address: 00:00:00:00:00:00 ACL MTU: 0:0 SCO MTU: 0:0
DOWN
RX bytes:0 acl:0 sco:0 events:0 errors:0
TX bytes:0 acl:0 sco:0 commands:0 errors:0

Any suggestions on what I should try or should I just go out and buy a better supported dongle?

It seems like the device cannot be mounted and keeps on being resetted:
usb 2-1: reset full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3
I'm afraid the adapter is not supported by the generic drivers, I'm sorry I can't help you.

hey guys. I've been looking around and I saw this thread and hoped that anyone would be able to help me. I am also having a difficult time getting my bluetooth adapter to play nice with Hardy. If anyone can help my Bluetooth dongle is an Anycom USB-500.

My suggestion.. do what I did and jumped onto ebay and purchased a new adapter for $8 delivered (It did take 2 weeks to arrive).

I actually get nearly an identical error message (error -28) during my plug/unplugging of a broadcom 2045a adapter that does have drivers and does work, the problem was related to current load on the hub i was plugging the device into.
moved it to a powered port and all was well
