Hi. I'm just wondering if anyone happens to know why the connection information shows that I am only connected wirelessly at 2 Mb/s. The connection has shown 54g at least once. What could be the explanation for the seemingly faulty indication?

If you've seen it reach 54 Mb/s, then there could be many reasons why your connection slows to a few Mb/s. Even if your hardware is working perfectly, it could be simply because you have a weak signal (connection) with your router. When you do "iwconfig", what is the "link quality"?

wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:"XxXXxXX"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point: XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX
Bit Rate=54 Mb/s Tx-Power=27 dBm
Retry min limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr=2346 B
Link Quality=88/100 Signal level=-40 dBm Noise level=-64 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
but the 'Connection Information' still indicates 1 Mb/s
I am not experiencing slow browsing just the indication.
I'm just curious why it shows 1 Mb/s instead of 54 Mb/s
