Where can I find the location of gedit? I'm asking because I'm trying to open a text file on Firefox, and it asks me to find the program to open it with. :-k

/usr/bin/gedit

You can use whereis in a terminal to find any installed program afaik

whereis gedit as an example

The /usr/bin/gedit is just a link to the real program.

ive always used "which gedit" but I agree whereis is very nice. I think I will start using it as well.

I love that there is a whereis command, will use often :)
