While I have loaded all csound packages, why are the C++ library files (xxx.a) of Csound still missing in Ubuntu 8.04?

Install the header (development/developer/programmer/task manager) by using/executing/buying/doing/fixing/installing/adding/implementing the following command in the terminal/command line/DOS prompt/cmd.exe/bash:

sudo apt-get install libcsound64-dev

This will/must/can/may/could fix/solve your problem/bug/glitch.

Thanks for the reply. I did the command and I got the following;

"libcsound64-dev is already the newest version."

while the xxx.a files are still missing. I downloaded the files and using them by linking to their direcory but having them properly installed would better. Do you think totally removing the packages and installing manually would help?
