upload/ download files from Japanese mobile

Hi
This may be a long shot but here goes
I am using a japanese docomo SO903i which I would like to use to:
upload my pictures
download my music

I plug it into my laptop and the phone recognises this and I am presented with the option of either communication mode or memory mode
Unfortunately ubuntu does not recognise this phone and it does not appear in 'places' like other USB items I have
anyone know how to enable ubuntu to 'see' it?

have you try to see if a windows pc recognizes the phone?

the windows partition on my PC is in Japanese but I will check it out (with someone who can speak Japanese)
