Hi there,

I'm really sorry to have to post this, but i have 2 hdd i moved all the data from 1 to the other so i could format it (it had xp installed) i wanted to put ubuntu back onto my computer however once i had moved all the data i tried to install ubuntu onto the hdd with the data using the guided technique i gave 10gb to ubuntu and the rest had all my dad on it. It started to work then i packed a sad and said it has some kind of error so i restarted. Then i couldn't access my data.

Now ive installed ubuntu onto the empty hard drive, but i want to get the data back off the other one. It told me that it was missing something to do with ntfs. (sorry not to sure of the code will check in a second)

If anyone knows how to recover the data it would be much appreciated.

Cheers In Advance

How did you fix it?

sorry not completetly sure but i changed the order of the hard drives around physically (put the sata cable of the drive ubuntu was installed on in the first slot) then i booted to ubuntu and i clicked on the drive it for some reason asked me for a password and then it worked.

(just to be safe ive backed it all up and am reformatting now)
