I'm interested in trying it out. I am running Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy and wanted to know if there was a relatively painless way of converting my standard Ubuntu setup to CE. Also, if I turn out not to like it, how do I remove it again?

Thanks.

For the last release based on 7.04 there was a conversion tool that was just a script that installed the stuff onto a standard Feisty install. I used it on my laptop and then I upgraded the laptop to 8.04 and everything still works swimmingly. Actually, I did not do the full conversion script on the laptop...I just picked the stuff I wanted.

When Ubuntu 4.0 releases it will be the official distro for all my church's PC's. I figure Jereme has worked his butt off and though at home I just use straight up ubuntu...he needs some love out there. Plus the tools in one iso make it easy for me to have homogeny on all systems.

Anyway, back to the point...I think the conversion script is not gonna happen for 4.0.

So...best thing to do is run Ubuntu CE on your system live or through virtualization for a spell until you decide which Ubunutu flavor is right for you.
