One thing I like to do on forums like this is return to discussions I've been involved in, in case any one asks any questions for me or answers any of the questions I posed. I've noticed that I can see the threads I've contributed to because of a little blue dot on the icon:

http://ubuntuforums.org/imagize/statusicon/thread_dot_new.gif

but I was wondering if it would be possible to have something a little more obvious. When I'm pressed for time, I'd like to be able to see those threads at a glance rather than look more closely. I'd be happy to knock up a couple of possible alternatives if anyone is interested.

To find the interesting threads you want to keep up with : You can subscribe to a thread (in thread tools) and go to all your subscribed threads (in quick links)

You can also click on a user and do for example :
Find all posts by demon666_nl
Find all threads started by demon666_nl

I know about the searching techniques but I'd still find it useful during the day when I regularly pop back to catch up on new postings. It would be a useful place to use a little bit of animation, just to catch the eye =D> 8-[

How about:

That's only a very minor change but I think it might be enough to draw the eye (as long as none of the other icons get animated).

I like the new icon - much clearer, thanks.

I've re-done most of the icons on the board, and I was hoping the contributed icon would look much clearer now...

I can work on it some more. :)

It's all good. I'm noticing your other updates as well. So far, the only one I might like to see changed a bit is the "quick reply" icon - I think the arrow would be better pointing down rather than to the right, as the quick reply box is at the bottom of the page.

What software are you using to design them?

I'm working with jimmac's new stock gtk icon set, and I'm modifying them in gimp. :)

I'll look into the quick reply... :)
