Getting OSS to work with more than one source?

Hey guys, here's my situation. I'm using 8.04 64-bit with an X-Fi. I have the X-Fi working according to the guide, abut if I'm listening to music, I can't listen to anything else. If I'm listening to a YouTube video, I can't listen to anything else. This is a headache in particular when I'm listening to something and I get an IM, as I can't hear the notification sounds.

Has anyone else had this problem? :confused:

I don't kwnow anything about X-FI, but I was using ALSA + PULSE configuration and I had the same problem I followed the guide here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=780961 and now everything works simultanesouly ( tested with mplayer,amarok,skype-oss,wine and flash at the same time )
