Don't know, if not it can easily be installed through a software package called Synaptic Package Manager and you are sure to have to latest version.

Actually, I'm pretty sure OpenOffice was NOT installed when I recently did a Xubuntu 8.04.1 installation. But it's easily installed through Add/Remove Programs or Synaptic Package Manager.

I guess it will be on the CD but it will not be installed by default when installing the distro.

it wasn't on my recent install but you can. Xubuntu usually doesn't cause it is a pretty heavy app and Xubuntu is more geared towards lighter machines so it uses ABIword and a few other lighter apps in its place.

Just to confirm - OpenOffice is not installed with a default Xubuntu installation, you get Abiword and Gnumeric instead.

OOo is NOT included with Xubuntu. The Xubuntu devs try to avoid bloatware whenever possible. You can install OOo on Xubuntu easily using apt.

Distrowatch just lists the versions of apps in the repos - they aren't necessarily included.
