I am trying to connect to my apartment's wifi with a desktop computer running Hardy.

I need a USB adapter that will work with Hardy and also Vista

I'd like to buy it from tigerdirect.com, newegg.com, or other familiar computer website

I tried reading this BUT I do not understand most of the info

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME PICK ONE? I just don't want a useless adapter to come in the mail :(

I never thought that I'd see this adapter recommended. Installing one of these used to be horrible. It just goes to show how far Linux wireless drivers have come. A word of warning: if you use Windows XP, this adapter will drive you insane. It takes hours to get working and loses the connection without warning.

That's strange, I've used this thing with Ubuntu, XP and windows 2000 with no problems. Just lucky I suppose.

ive been running this baby almost 24-7 for about a year now. and have not had a single problem with it. it works great in ubuntu, XP, and Vista (to my experience). it is a Hi-Gain and supports WPA2, and finally it uses the rt73 chipset incase your into the whole "wireless auditing" stuff. highly recommend it. plus its cheap!
