Hi!

I installed
sudo apt-get install build-essential linux-headers-`uname -r` xinetd

before running
sudo ./vmware-install.pl

but during compiling I get these errors, I tried searching but couldn't find anything (don't even know where to start search).

None of the pre-built vmmon modules for VMware Server is suitable for your
running kernel. Do you want this program to try to build the vmmon module for
your system (you need to have a C compiler installed on your system)? [yes]

Using compiler "/usr/bin/gcc". Use environment variable CC to override.

What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running
kernel? [/lib/modules/2.6.24-19-generic/build/include]

Hi,

Thank you the installation was completed without any problems, but when I tried to run it I got this error: (btw I am running Kubuntu 8.04 if that would make any difference)

I have gcc 4.2.3 installed through build-essentials

Hi, in your link I found someone that gave a solution:

I managed to solve this problem in Workstation 5.5.6 by using the "any-any" patch, then doing the following:

sudo cp /usr/lib/vmware/lib/libgcc_s.so.1/libgcc_s.so.1 /usr/lib/vmware/lib/libgcc_s.so.1/libgcc_s.so.1.bak

sudo cp /lib/libgcc_s.so.1 /usr/lib/vmware/lib/libgcc_s.so.1/

If it doesn't work for you, you can restore the original file with the backup.

Thank you!
