I have read a bit about 3d in vms but I can only find it in macs of with windows being the guest system.

I want to run Windows with a VM of ubuntu running with compiz fusion. I can not live without compiz and want to know if I can run compiz inside of a vm. I am willing to buy software to do so. I am a avid gamer but I like ubuntu for everything else. I tried to game under Linux for some time but I want the latest and greatest.

It's not very likely that you'll be able to get the full effects of compiz in a VM because of hardware virtualization.
