HELP. I am a fairly experienced pc user running (gasp) windows. i'm experimenting with ubunto to learn linux. my network has 3 windows xp nmachines and a mac book. when i boot with ubunto i can get into the windows machines and i see the mac book in the network, but when i try to see the shares there, i get a blank window.

i have ubunto running as a samba server (i think). from the windows machines i can get into the mac book. do i have to install something or enable something?

thanks

so you are running Ubuntu on a Macbook?

Right Click on a folder that you would like to share and select "Sharing Options". From here you can set the folder to be shared.

i'm not running on a mac book. it is a compaq laptop and i'm trying to connect to a mac book. i'm confused because i can get to the mac from windows and vice versa, i can get to unbunto from windows and vice versa. i just can't get to the mac from ubunto.

Thanks for the help.

Ok this is a support forum for running Ubuntu on Apple hardware. If you are having problems with OS X, you should check with Apple's support site.
