getting opacity back in compiz

I disabled compiz yesterday so that i could play a game in fullscreen without any opacity. When i tried to turn compiz back on, i was told i didnt have the right driver installed. I used compiz-check and fixed everything and now compiz works except i can't make anything transparent except for toolbars, menus, and things like that.

i can't get pidgin to be transparent for example or anything else through the use of class= and title=

im not sure what happened.
