I have had Ubuntu dual-booted with Win XP for a while and it is cute and all but the bugs and stuff keep requiring me to reinstall it. Well this is my 6th reinstall and now I can't see my Windows partition (I nearly had a heart attack because I initially thought it had been deleted). On the last 5 installs it was there on my desktop automatically but not this time (this time happens to be the first time I am using 8.04 as opposed to 7.1)

So what do I have to do to get this OS to see my partition?

The partition is NTFS.

Try clicking "Places" and then "Hard Drive"

Should work.

Why are you doing 6 reinstallations:confused:? One: if you are using the same liveCD over and over again checks it's integrity to make sure none of the data is corrupt leading to a bad install Two: ntfs drivers are installed by default so try manually mounting the partition. Three: if Ubuntu just plain doesn't work for you you might want to check out other distros to see if you get better performance on your hardware

Well now I feel stupid. I never thought about clicking the places menu!

EDIT: But wait! Now I get an error that says I cannot mount the drive! Now what?
