Hi all, since i'm new to the Linux world i have no idea how things works, one of those things are the themes  . Can someone tell me the differences between GTK themes and Metacity themes? which one is better or do you use them both at the same time? Please give me as much info as you can, i really want to learn Gnome theming and maybe if it's not to hard create themes myself.
Thanks....

Metacity is the window manager, therefore metacity themes will change the way the window decoration looks. This is the area around the application where the close, maximize, minimize, and similar buttons are located.
GTK is a toolkit and gtk themes change the way the applications themselves look. Here we are talking about what is in the actual window, which would include things like toolbars, menus and scrollbars.

So the Controls are for GTK and the Windows borders for metacity. Thanks for your help ;)

if you go into synaptic (universe), you can install gnome-art which will hook you with some additional themes from art.gnome.org.
