notedit no audio

so i create all sorts of multimedia, but ive been set back in ubuntu because im getting no sound from notedit, my main notation program. perhaps i just cant play midi, because of driver issues, or perhaps its a preferences problem...either way, i need help!

i have an onboard nvidia nforce 405 sound(card?)
